    Who are the Lions?

As Lions, We Serve! Lions Clubs International (LCI) was founded in 1917 by Chicago businessman Melvin Jones. In his opinion, a club should do more than promote the business of its members; it should service the community. He chose the name Lions Club because he was convinced that the lion stood for strength, courage, fidelity and vital action. We call these characteristics Lionism.

Lions Clubs are in 205 countries serving in hospitals and senior centers, in regions battered by natural disasters, and in schools; wherever the is a need, you will find a Lion. Because we are local, we can serve the unique needs of our communities. And because we're global, we can address challenges that go beyond borders. Look at what we have done for the Madison Area.

    Club History

The Madison Area Lions Club is a chapter of Lions Clubs International (LCI). The club received its charter from Lions Clubs International on April 27, 2021. Since then the club has developed programs supporting vision programs for children and elderly, diabetes, youth leadership programs, and support for our schools.

The Madison Area Lions Club mission statement is to serve the Madison Community by providing vision support to youth and elderly adults and supporting other programs designed to help those in the Madison Area. Although many of our programs are focused on those areas, every member can choose an interest area and build community programs to support their interest. Club members are ready to help other members
